There has been a couple of other changes regarding complaints, including that the legislation makes it very clear that victimisation can form the basis of both civil as well as criminal proceedings and are not mutually exclusive. For many businesses this change will not impact them unless they are faced with a complaint.

There has also been a significant lengthening in the amount of time in which a complaint can be lodged following an incident. Prior to the respect at work act. There was a six month timeframe following an incident in which employees could lodge a complaint. Under the legislation this has been significantly extended through to 24 months from when the alleged misconduct took place.
