On Demand HR Membership

Since being established in 2010, On Demand HR has continued to evolve it’s services to meet with a changing legislative environment, dynamic customer requirements, as well as striving to increase the level of value we deliver to our clients.

This evolution has led to the creation of our Essential Support Membership which has 2 key components:

Step 1 – Workplace Relations Review & Structural Implementation – addresses compliance and provides a solid foundation for future advice

Step 2 – Essential Support – Unlimited day-to-day advice on all HR and Workplace Relations Matters as well as access to online training and other HR tools

Step 1 – WR Review & Structural Implementation

On Demand HR’s comprehensive WR Review & Structure Implementation is a comprehensive assessment of your current workplace relations affairs, with a view to implementing proper workplace relations structures, and dealing with potential compliance risks. This provides a solid foundation for all future advice.

The review includes:

  • Assessment of Award Coverage for all positions
  • Provision of advice regarding salary, wages, overtime and other payments structures
  • Review of existing employment contracts and workplace policies
  • Provision of new employment contract framework
  • Provision of new policies and procedures (or revised documents)
  • Provision of summary report of findings and recommendations

Step 2 – Essential Support

Essential Support membership is the standard engagement with On Demand HR. This provides unlimited access to day-to-day workplace relations and HR advice for both senior management and line managers. Support can be accessed via direct phone calls to our consultants, via our advice email address, via live chat or through our members portal.

The advice that you will receive is based on practical experience gained through appearing before the commission and will be balanced between both mitigating risks and the business’s interests.

We like to think that we can assist you with almost any HR or Workplace Relations matter and we have listed below some of the common areas we are asked to provide support:

  • Performance Management, Warnings & Disciplinary & Termination Advice
  • Payroll, Leave, NES, Fair Work Act Advice

  • Job Descriptions & Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

  • Recruitment Strategy Review & Job Advertisement Drafting

  • Access to On Demand HR Webinars & Critical Updates

  • Salary benchmarking for new and existing roles

  • Disciplinary & Termination Advice

  • Employer responses to employee grievances/complaints

  • Annual Award Updates

  • Workers Compensation Claim Lodgement & Management

  • Restructuring & Redundancy Advice

Membership Bonus – Online Training Modules

Part of your membership includes unlimited access to our library of online training modules aimed to assist with compliance for all employees as well as training and development for managers. Some of our most common training modules include:

  • Workplace Bullying, Discrimination & Sexual Harassment (Employee)
  • Social Media In The Workplace (Employee)
  • Working From Home (Employee)
  • Manual Handling (Employee)
  • Performance Management (Manager)
  • Carrying Out Effective Interviews (Manager)

Membership Bonus – Contracts & Digital Onboarding

One of the most common requests we get from our members is for contract creation and digital onboarding for new employees. Building off the Workplace Relations Review, simply by filling out a simple request form, we will create a customised contract for your new employee, send it out for digital signing & countersigning as well as electronically collect all of their key information for payroll. The process looks a little like this:

  • You complete a simple request form hosted in our members portal, providing the key details such as employee name, position and rate of pay
  • We prepare a draft employment contract for your review and approval
  • The contract along with your policy manual and any other customised documentation is sent to the employee for review and digital acceptance and then countersigning by you
  • The employee is sent a digital onboarding request to collect key information such as banking and super details, next of kin and replaces the need for a tax file declaration
  • We can also include pre-employment declarations such as working from home and health
  • All of the information is sent through to you and your payroll contact ready for the employee to start!

Membership Bonus – Members Portal

Unlike many providers in this space, we are flexible in the way in which you can access support. Some members prefer to call our consultants directly or email our general support – either way, you are not going to be going through a call centre or automated phone system!

To expand on these options, we have created a dedicated members portal where you can quickly access specific types of support, launch a live chat or attend live training workshops.

As part of our support, our consultants might direct you to the portal to make a request which helps us to gather the key bits of information we need to help you with a specific request – of course we can do this over the phone or email if you prefer – the choice is yours!

  • Performance Appraisal
  • Performance Management
  • Employment Contract & Onboarding
  • Remote Working Checklist
  • Employee Health Checklist
  • Vary Part Time Hours
  • Recruitment Campaign Request
  • Salary Benchmarking Request
  • Online Training Rollout
  • Deed Of Release
  • Workers Compensation Claims Lodgement
  • Plus much more!

Membership Bonus – Employee Grievances

All businesses know that grievances that are not properly managed can quickly escalate and turn into major investigations and workers compensation claims. As part of your Essential Support membership, you will have the option to give your employees access to our online employee grievance portal custom-built for your business. Here is how it works:

  • Your employees will be given access to a unique form for your business where they will be able to log their work-related grievance
  • One of the experienced team of On Demand HR consultants will review the grievance on behalf of your business
  • Following the review, we will direct the grievance along with details advice on the next steps to the appropriate person within the business (typically the line manager)
  • For more serious grievances we will (with your permission) conduct a preliminary interview with the complainant to assess the validity of the complaint and make recommendations to the business on how to navigate forwards.

Membership Bonus – Employee Assistance Program

When it comes to workplace disputes, the recent trend has been away from traditional styles of external complaints such as unfair dismissal and general protections disputes and towards mental health-related workers compensation. In many ways, this is an easier path for an employee to receive compensation and for those businesses who are claims sensitive, this represents a huge problem.

Part of your membership with On Demand HR gives your employees access to an Employee Assistance Program where they can access company funded external counselling and support. This is available without any subscription fees due to our industry relations and you are only required to pay for the individual sessions accessed by your employees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have to sign up for a 12 month contract or more?2023-07-20T07:00:23+10:00

No – our initial membership term is for 3 months, following which you can cancel at any time with the provision of 30 day notice.

Our current members have told us that some of the other players in the marketplace have asked them to sign up for anywhere between 12 months to 5 year contracts for HR and Workplace Relations support.

From our perspective, this sort of practice is something that we fundamentally disagree with.  Our initial term for all of our memberships is 3 months, and following this a month-to-month basis.

These terms were put in place on the simple basis that we feel that we should be “earning” your business each and every month and if we are unable to do this, we should not have to rely on “terms and conditions” to keep you around.

Why don’t you directly engage with employees on our behalf?2023-07-20T07:01:33+10:00

We often get requests to carry out performance management processes, terminations and other direct-to-employee meetings on behalf of our clients.  There are a number of reasons that we generally don’t do this including:

  • We would like to remain independent in the event we are required to represent our members in some sort of tribunal claim
  • We don’t feel that we can do this as an external consultant in a genuine manner. How can we have an opinion on an employee’s daily activity or attitude?  This type of feedback or management albeit challenging will be much better received coming direct from a line manager
  • The line managers with our coaching, support and documentation will grow and develop as a result of the membership and carrying out these processes directly
Can’t I just go to my lawyer for HR support?2023-07-20T07:02:45+10:00

Sure – there is nothing preventing you going to your lawyer for things like employment contracts and HR support.  However, lawyers are like doctors in that there are general practitioners and then there are specialists.

HR is a specialist field requiring intimate knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and most importantly people.  If you go to a specialist – expect to pay specialist prices of $500 + per hour.  Trust us – we know when we have had to engage them for high level and specialist support.  If your business can afford this for your day to day support – go for it!

Finally, one thing we pride ourselves on here at On Demand HR is providing advice that not only considers risk but also the desired outcome of the business.  In other words, our advice does not “sit on the fence”.

Why don’t you offer insurance to protect me against employment related claims?2023-07-08T14:22:28+10:00

No – we believe this to be a massive conflict of interest.

Some of our current members were clients of competing businesses who offer insurance against any employment-related claims.  Sounds great on the surface, but it is not until you dig a little deeper that you discover that this simply leads to advice that is always the least risky option.

Think about it, if you were advising a business that was considering terminating an employee and if they lodged an unfair dismissal claim you would have to cover any compensation awarded out of your own pocket, which direction would your advice lean?

What makes On Demand HR’s advice different?2023-07-20T07:03:30+10:00

We would like to think lots!

A couple of the key reasons we think our advice and support is a little different:

  • You won’t have to put up with automated phone systems, call centres nor repeating key details about your business to a revolving door of HR consultants. You will have direct access to a team of experienced HR consultants who know your business.
  • All of our consultants have experience in appearing before the commission in employment-related claims. This means that the advice that we give is based on practical experience and not just on theory.  This practical experience allows us to achieve outcomes aligned with the interests of the business by using strategies that you can’t read in textbooks.
  • Put simply we give clear and thought-out advice and we certainly don’t sit on the fence. For any situation, we will give you a firm recommendation on the direction and strategy we think you should take to empower you to make the best decision for your business or team.
Can you help me with my recruitment?2023-07-08T14:23:31+10:00

Absolutely!

We have a unique recruitment campaigning service which we have developed and refined since 2010 that delivers top candidates without the excessive placement fees from traditional recruitment agents.

What is not included in Essential Support?2023-07-08T14:25:01+10:00

The better question is what is not included in the Essential Support membership!

The only things that are not included are larger ad hoc projects covered by On Demand HR Projects.  This includes projects such as formal workplace investigations, tribunal representation and EBA Negotiations.

The only other exclusion is On Demand HR Recruitment Campaigns which attract a fixed fee.

Will I have to go through a call centre or automated phone systems to access support?2023-07-20T07:04:18+10:00

No way!

We have heard this frustration from new members who were previously engaged with our competitors.  On Demand HR can offer support in a number of ways:

  • Email to a common advice email where we will allocate the best consultant to assist you based on the type of request
  • Direct phone call or email to any of our experienced team of HR consultants
  • Through our members portal to make a support request or via live chat

No matter which way you choose to access support, you will not have to explain everything about your business in order to get simple support.  We know our members and plan on keeping it that way.
